Cucina Restaurants increases turnover by more than 10%

School caterer Cucina Restaurants has increased its turnover to £10.9m for the 12 month period to 31 March 2015, up 10.1% from £9.8m the previous year.

The figures, presented in the group's annual report filed at Companies House on 30 December, showed the company had an operating profit of £633,526 compared to £406,897 in 2014.

Cucina said it continues to show year-on-year growth with contract numbers having risen to 43, despite losing four contracts during the period.

Steve Quinn, owner and chief executive at Cucina Restaurants, highlighted in the report some of the challenges the company faces with competitors.

He said: "Our competitors continue to mimic our style and approach, and as predicted we have seen the first real contract losses this year totalling four in number."

But the company remains confident it will continue to grow with new contract gains outweighing the losses.

Quinn added: "All in all an extremely positive strong and stable performance in a very tough trading environment."

In September 2015, Cucina announced a management restructure, which saw Quinn assume the role of chief executive, while Stuart Lenton was appointed as the new manging director.
