Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa sells for undisclosed sum
Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, which was being marketed for offers in excess of £20m, has been sold to CS Hotels for an undisclosed sum.
The four-AA-star, 62-bedroom property, located within 183 acres of parkland on the east coast between Liverpool and Southport, was put up for sale by the Maghull Group in May 2015.
Formby Hall's management team, led by general manager Andrew Pyle, will remain unchanged and a major refurbishment will be carried out at the hotel.
Guest rooms will be refurbished, along with enhancements to the spa, the 19th Hole Bar, L37 restaurant and both event rooms.
Work is expected to start shortly, with the first phase due for completion by the end of spring 2016.
Formby Hall's last set of accounts showed a turnover of more than £7.1m, and a pre-tax profit of almost £293,000, up from almost £177,000 the previous year.
Shaun Skidmore, senior director at CBRE, who handled the sale, said: "CS Hotels is delighted to have acquired this successful resort and has revealed plans for continued investment, building on its first class reputation."
