Two Hilton hotels, with nearly 1850 bedrooms, to be sold

The 1,059-bedroom London hotel and its 790-bedroom sister property in Birmingham are to be sold by the property investment company, the Tonstate Group.

Both hotels have extensive conference facilities. The London hotel, near Paddington, is a freehold property, while the Birmingham hotel, situated alongside the NEC Birmingham, operates under a long lease.

Tonstate - launched in 1996 by Dr Edward Wojakovski, a surveyor, and Arthur Matyas, a former commodities broker - also owns the Hilton Cardiff and the Travelodge and Ramada properties at Glasgow Airport. It bought the Hilton London Metropole and Hilton Birmingham Metropole in 2006 from the then-named Hilton Hotels Corporation for £417m.

The long-term management contract with Hilton Worldwide to opeate the hotels is expected to continue following any sale.

CBRE Hotels has been appointed to market the two properties.
