Boparan Restaurant Holdings (BRH), owned by millionaire entrepreneur Ranjit Singh Boparan, has acquired the London-based, three-strong Cinnamon Collection.

BRH now counts the Cinnamon Club in the Grade II-listed Westminster Library, Cinnamon Kitchen in the City of London, and Cinnamon Soho (pictured) among its restaurant assets.

The company plans to roll out Cinnamon branded restaurants throughout the UK and overseas.

The existing Cinnamon team, including Vivek Singh, CEO and executive chef for the Collection, and commercial director Tina English, remain in their current roles.

Singh said: "It's very much business as usual at our three restaurants and we are looking forward to working with BRH. The acquisition presents Cinnamon with great opportunities for growth and for the team to be involved in an exciting stage of the Collection's development."

Ranjit Singh Boparan, who also owns the 2 Sisters Food Group along with his wife Baljinder, said: "We invest in businesses that add value to our restaurant portfolio and Cinnamon Collection represents an appealing proposition for our customers. We believe the business has significant potential for further growth and look forward to working with Vivek and his team to scale the business, particularly as Indian food is one of the UK's favourite cuisines and is a rollable proposition."

The 2 Sisters Food Group is part of a business empire that employs around 24,000 people and together Ranjit and Baljinder are worth an estimated £800m, according to the Birmingham Post.

Ranjit Singh Boparan's career in food began behind the counter of a butcher's shop in Bilston, where he was born. The 2 Sisters Good Group was founded in 1993 and remains a private company.

Meanwhile, Vivek Singh first opened the Cinnamon Club in 2001 with business partner Iqbal Wahhab. In September last year, the restaurant reopened following a £1m refurbishment ahead of its 15th anniversary.
