VisitEngland announces Award for Excellence 2016 finalists

Chewton Glen, the 71-bedroom hotel in New Milton, Hampshire, which this year is celebrating its 50th anniversary, is one of 80 finalists to be short-listed in VisitEngland's Award for Excellence.

It has been included in a shortlist of five in the large hotel category alongside Peckforton Castle hotel, Tarporley, Cheshire; Rockliffe Hall, Darlington, County Durham; Salcombe Harbour Hotel & Spa, Salcombe, Devon; and South Lodge, Lower Beeding, West Sussex.

All finalists have been selected for championing best practice and exhibiting excellence in customer service across 16 categories in hospitality and tourism. They will each receive either a gold, silver, bronze, or highly commended award at an award ceremony at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, on 8 March.

Sally Balcombe, chief executive of VisitBritain and VisitEngland, said the awards "highlight exceptional commitment to quality care, service and English tourism as a whole", as well as "raise the profile of England and celebrate the importance of the industry's contribution to local and national economies".
