The seven biggest openings of the week: featuring Motel One and Adam's

Motel One

Budget design hotel brand Motel One has opened its first hotel in Newcastle. Each Motel One takes its design influences from the city's local history and culture, which in this case was "old industrial charm blended with stylish modernism". To achieve this, care was taken to preserve some of the building's old brick walls, which act as a backdrop to modern chandeliers. The reception is decorated in the black and white stripes of Newcastle United football club, and the One Lounge breakfast area has been inspired by the seven bridges over the Tyne. In the bar, the design is influenced by the ‘Rocket' Robert Stephenson's steam locomotive.

Motel One was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Munich, Germany. It operates 53 hotels and around 14,300 rooms across Europe. The company plans an additional 25 Motel One sites across Europe over the coming years.
