Polpo Restaurants' Mishkin's closes

London restaurant Mishkin's, run by Russell Norman and Richard Beatty's Polpo Restaurants, has closed.

An announcement about the closure appeared on the Catherine Street restaurant's website.

It read: "Mishkin's is now closed on Catherine Street. Please watch this space for news of new locations. We are currently negotiating on an exciting flagship spot in the city."

Mishkin's launched in late 2011 and at the time was Norman and Beatty's fifth restaurant. It was billed as combining a "Jewish deli with cocktails", and was inspired by New York's Lower East Side and east London's cafés.

It is not known exactly what prompted the closure of the site, and no-one at Polpo Restaurants was available for comment when this story was posted online.

Late last year, the Venetian-inspired restaurant group announced that it would be expanding, with new restaurants in branches of department store Harvey Nichols.

Polpo Leeds opened on the fourth floor of the city's Harvey Nichols store on Briggate, meanwhile Polpo Knightsbridge opened on the fifth floor of the Knightsbridge branch of Harvey Nichols.

There are five other Polpo restaurants in London, one in Brighton, as well as Polpo at Ape & Bird, Polpetto, and Spuntino, all of which are in London.
