Tune Hotels appoints UK head of sales
Malaysian-based budget brand Tune Hotels has appointed Gareth Evans as head of sales to oversee the group's UK portfolio.
Evans joins with more than 10 years' industry experience, having previously held the position of senior sales manager with Apex Hotels. He has also worked for Swissôtel the Howard (now closed), Montcalm hotels and Morgans Hotel Group.
In his new role he will be responsible for increasing occupancy levels across Tune hotels, with a particular focus on the corporate market.
Evans said: "I've joined Tune Hotels at an exciting time in the brand's development. With new hotels planned in London and Glasgow, this is a chain that's really growing here in the UK, and I'm excited to be a part of that.
"Going forward we will be working hard to implement a new sales system and way of working across the group, so joining at this point is a challenge I relish. I look forward to sharing my experience with the wider sales team and forging relationships across the Tune Hotels Group to ensure we continue to flourish."
Regis Morin, group revenue manager, added: "I'm delighted to welcome Gareth to our senior management team. He has a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector, and a great reputation in the industry."
Tune Hotels has eight hotels in the UK including five in London, one in Edinburgh, one in Newcastle and one in Liverpool.
In October 2014 the group announced plans to open at least 25 hotels in the UK in the run-up to 2019, representing a £200m investment.
