Charlie Parker announced as GM of Four Seasons' new London hotel
Ten Trinity Square, the new property to be launched in the City of London by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts later this year, has appointed Charlie Parker as general manager.
The news of Parker's transfer from the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire follows on from the announcement that the luxury hotel group will be exiting the management contract of its Canary Wharf property.
Parker is a Four Seasons veteran of 20 years. The son of Alan Parker, the former chief executive of Whitbread, he studied hotel management at the University of Surrey before joining Four Seasons at Park Lane. He went on to work for the group in the US and later joined the Explorer, the Four Seasons cruise ship based in the Maldives.
A six-year stint in the Middle East followed as director of rooms in Doha and resort manager in Sharm El Sheikh, before Parker returned to the UK in his first general manager role in Hampshire in 2011.
Parker described the opening of Ten Trinity Square, which will be located within the Grade II-listed property which at one time housed the Port of London Authority and is now owned by the Chinese-based Reignwood Group, as an opportunity to "write a new chapter" about an iconic building.
"The architectural presence and historic elements of this building offer a unique local character as a foundation for a truly world class experience," he said. "Although it will be our newest hotel in the London area, I think that our guests will feel very much at home as soon as they walk through the front door."
In addition to the 100 bedrooms, the property will accommodate 41 private residences, two restaurants - one French and the other Asian - and a spa.
Meanwhile, Four Seasons' decision to step away from the Canary Wharf hotel was taken jointly with the property's owner, the Yianis Group property company.
Four Seasons has managed the 142-bedroom riverfront hotel since it opened in 1999. Its tenure will end on 30 April and it is expected that a new management company will be announced shortly.
