The Ivy Café to open new site in Wimbledon Village
The Ivy Café, the offshoot brand from Caprice Holdings, is to open a new site in Wimbledon Village, south west London, on 1 June.
The 120-cover café, on the site of a former Barclays Bank at 75 High Street, will be open seven days and offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus light snacks, cream teas, weekend brunch and cocktails. It will be the second location for the Café brand.
There will be a ground-floor restaurant and small dining terrace, plus a 20-seat private dining room with food from the Ivy Collection's executive chef, Sean Burbidge, with the aim of being available for business meetings, receptions and dinners.
Typical dishes will include shepherd's pie with slow-braised lamb shoulder and Keen's Cheddar potato mash; chicken liver parfait with caramelised hazelnut, cherry and Szechuan pepper compote; and lobster risotto with fennel, lemon and tomato.
The cocktail menu has been created by executive bar manager Jeremy Evans and will include the Ivy Café Royale with hibiscus gin, sloe infusion, rose water, and Crémant; and the London Spritz with earl grey gin and lemon.
Décor will be along the same lines as the site's sister Ivy Café in Marylebone, and by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. It will feature an antique pewter bar, pendant lighting, marble floor tiles, leather banquettes and bar stools, with colours such as caramel and burnt orange.
The first Café opened in late 2015 in north London's Marylebone.
