Compass Group to create 1,500 apprenticeship roles

Compass Group UK & Ireland plans to increase its number of apprenticeship roles from 500 to 1,500 by the end of 2017.

The company already offers training programmes in a range of areas including foodservice, professional cookery, chef leaderships, business administration, security, cleaning, finance, human resources, leadership and management.

New roles will be provided across all sectors of the business with the introduction of the additional apprenticeship roles.

The news coincides with the start of National Apprenticeship Week on 14-18 March.

Dennis Hogan, managing director for Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: "As one of the top apprenticeship employers in the country we are extremely passionate about delivering high-quality training and learning programmes for our apprentices and we are excited about broadening our apprenticeship programme across our broad portfolio of businesses.

"We recognise the importance and value apprenticeships can bring to both the individual and also our business."

The apprenticeship programme is managed by Melanie Hayes, resourcing and development director for Compass, who was recently appointed to a new Apprenticeship Delivery Board by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

In January, Compass was named as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers by the National Apprenticeship Service and has trained 3,000 apprentices in the past five years.

The government plans to have three million more apprenticeships by 2020.
