Itsu apologises after new delivery app crashes on first day
Noodle and sushi group itsu has been left apologising to customers via Twitter after its smartphone app crashed when a first-day discount for deliveries went viral.
Writing on its Twitter account, the company confirmed the app had been suspended, adding: "This promotion was intended for itsu [to you] delivery only and unfortunately not our shops, meaning we have overloaded! #broketheapp."
Another tweet read: "Dodgy dealers have posted our itsu [to you] delivery codes on forums, meaning we don't know who is friend or foe."
The company has since confirmed that the app had been suspended and fixed, but that it was still only set up to deliver to select London postcodes and was not valid in shops.
Founded by Pret A Manger's Julian Metcalfe, itsu operates 65 shops across the UK, mainly within London but also in Leeds, Reading, Stansted Airport, Oxford, Cambridge and Brighton.
