Rhubarb walks away from Fenwick contract

Event caterer Rhubarb has decided not to renew its contract with Fenwick for the in-store restaurant Bond & Brook at the Bond Street store in London.

The Caterer understands Rhubarb, which has been running Bond & Brook since August 2010, plans to focus on a number of new ventures and locations.

The all-day restaurant, located on the second floor, currently operates during the store's opening hours. It includes a cocktail bar and library of fashion books.

Bond & Brook represents the first project, from conception to completion, by Rhubarb and consultancy firm A Private View, the partnership of Evening Standard restaurant critic Fay Maschler and journalist and broadcaster Simon Davis.

Rhubarb operates in a number of visitor attractions across the capital including the Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street, the Royal Albert Hall, Saatchi Gallery, Heathrow Terminal 3 and Terminal 5, London City Airport and Royal Ascot Racecourse.

The group recently won a £60m contract for the catering operation at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex. The five-year deal started on 16 March, when Rhubarb took over from Compass Group, which held the contract for more than 25 years.

A spokesperson from Fenwick was currently unable to confirm plans for the restaurant.
