Picture restaurant owners to launch second site

The team behind Picture restaurant in London's Great Portland Street are to launch a second site, this time in Marylebone.

Picture Marylebone will open in what used to be Joint restaurant on New Cavendish Street in July, following a refurbishment.

The 45-cover venue will be another neighbourhood restaurant with an a la carte menu alongside a six-course tasting menu available each lunch and dinner service. The tasting menu will be priced at a similar level to the £39 option available in the Great Portland Street restaurant.

Both venues are run by chefs Alan Christie and Colin Kelly and restaurant manager Tom Slegg. Christie and Kelly were formerly head chefs of Arbutus and Wild Honey.

Slegg will be supported front of house by restaurant manager Jeremy Wormald.

"Opening our own restaurant has been an incredibly steep learning curve both in terms of running a business and the restaurant itself. Looking back at the product we opened with, we feel that we have come a long way," said Slegg.

"During the first couple of years we tried to be consistently making improvements, be it the style of the menu and wine list, the room, the toilets and everything else! We are much happier now with the product and are looking forward to improving it further both here and in Marylebone."
