Robust year end for Wilson Vale

Foodservice company Wilson Vale has seen a 9% rise in its annual turnover to £21.9m for the year to 31 December 2015.

The growth is thanks to a series of new business gains and important retentions throughout 2015, including a new contract with Dentsu Aegis Network, a leading global media, digital and creative communications group at the start of 2015.

The company also opened its first contract in Coventry (The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and secured two additional contracts with Tarmac, taking the caterer into the South West and the North East.

Meanwhile, its education portfolio expanded with the addition of several schools and colleges, including Ruskin College in Oxford.

Andrew Wilson, co-founder and managing director of Wilson Vale, said: "2015 was a significant year for us. To grow organically within the foodservice sector you have to remain true to your core values. Retention and extension of business is particularly valuable because it shows the relationships we have with our clients and customers. We continue to maintain an operationally driven culture, balanced with a strategy of low risk and carefully managed growth.

"Looking ahead, sales performance for our first quarter presents a very encouraging outlook for this financial year also."

The business said it was on course to reach its budgeted turnover figure of £23 million for 2016, with new contract wins in the year to date including a contract with Sepura, a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of digital radio products, systems and applications, at the company's new corporate headquarters at Building 9000 in Cambridge Research Park, Cambridge.

Under a three-year contract worth £300,000 in annual turnover, Wilson Vale now manages a breakfast, lunch and busy hospitality service for approximately 450 Sepura employees within the building.

Since the contract opened officially on 4 January 2016, sales are running 35% ahead of budget due to uptake of the new service.
