Relais roll call: looking to the future
Thirty-six of the UK's most venerated culinary institutions were represented at a Relais & Châteaux event designed to get industry leaders talking about the future of hospitality. Amanda Afiya reports
Relais & Châteaux brought executive and head chefs from all 36 of its UK and Ireland member hotels and restaurants together at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire, last week, to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing the hospitality industry.
The event was organised by Nicola Liddiard, director of Relais & Châteaux UK & Ireland, and included talks from host Raymond Blanc and Nigel Haworth of Northcote, who is the only chef to sit on the UK & Ireland delegation steering committee.
Other speakers included Philippe Gombert, international president of Relais & Châteaux, Olivier Roellinger, vice-president (chefs), hotelier Malcolm Lewis, chairman of the UK & Ireland steering committee and owner of Longueville Manor, and Isabelle Mical, communications director.
The conference covered a diverse range of topics, including sustainability, competitions, social media and best practice, and the issues of recruitment, staff mobility and loyalty.
