Lord Crewe Arms, the Pointer, Portland and the Shore make final shortlist for 2016 Menu of the Year Catey
The restaurants shortlisted for the Menu of the Year Catey 2016, sponsored by Quorn, have been named following a judging session which took place at the Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel, yesterday.
The shortlisted restaurants are:
Lord Crewe Arms, Blanchard, County Durham (pictured)
The Pointer, Brill, Buckinghamshire
Nominees were selected from all the menus featured on the Menuwatch page of the Chef section of The Caterer over the past 12 months, and were judged on innovation within the price bracket of that particular establishment or contract; good use of seasonal produce on the menu; creativity of the dishes being served; careful marrying of textures and flavours of the component ingredients; value for money; and whether seeing the menu or selection of dishes, you would be tempted to eat there.
The ultimate winner will remain a secret until the award is presented at the Cateys in July.
Judges for the prestigious award included Clare Smyth; 2015 Menu of the Year Catey winner Stephen Toman of Belfast restaurant OX; 2012 Menu of the Year winner Jeremy Lee of Quo Vadis; 2014 Menu of the Year winner Bruno Loubet of Grain Store; AA group area manager Giovanna Grossi; and James Mackenzie, chef-patron of 2013 Pub and Bar Award winner the Pipe and Glass Inn in Beverley, Yorkshire.
The Caterer Awards, now in their 33rd year and also known as the Cateys, will take place on 5 July at the Grosvenor House in London.
