Leon to open its first Scottish outlet in Glasgow

Healthy fast food chain Leon is to open its first Scottish outlet in Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries shopping centre in July.

The outlet will become the first high street store for Leon outside London.

Experienced Leon manager Stacey Strachan, born in Stirling and brought up in the Scottish Borders, is to head a 25-strong team at the store.

She said: ""I started my journey with Leon just over two years ago, but I have always been a fan. I remember years ago buying my dad the first Leon cookbook and persuading him to make me the sweet potato falafels and the chilli sauce.

"Working for Leon really is like being part of a big family and I am very excited and honoured to be opening our first store in my family's home of Scotland."

Leon's founders John Vincent and Henry Dimbleby (pictured) said they had received many requests for a restaurant in the city.

Vincent said: "I have happy memories of Glasgow. It is a city with style, spirit and energy. Now I have an excuse to come more often."

Guest will be able to order Leon classic dishes such as the Moroccan meatball hotbox (served with brown rice and coleslaw), fish finger wrap, chargrilled chicken burger with tarragon olive oil mayo and baked fries and super food salad.

Leon was founded in 2004 by Vincent and Dimbleby, along with chef Allegra McEvedy, with the aim of offering healthy fast food at an affordable price. Today the group has 35 restaurants.
