Casual Dining Group makes senior management changes
Café Rouge managing director James Spragg has assumed the new position of chief operating officer of the Casual Dining group (CDG) with a remit to enlarge the expansionist firm's international footprint and concessions business.
Spragg's elevation is one of a number of senior management moves that see La Tasca CEO Simon Wilkinson join the CDG board as Café Rouge and Belgo managing director, thus replacing Spragg. His previous responsibilities now fall to Mos Shamel, Las Iguanas managing director, who will add La Tasca to his portfolio.
CDG CEO Steve Richards commented: "These developments will further enhance our leadership team and help underscore our growing momentum. James's appointment will help us to deliver our wider strategic ambitions and I am delighted to welcome to the CDG board someone of Simon's calibre, who will continue our work to build the Café Rouge brand."
CDG owns 300 restaurants in the UK of which Bella Italia, Café Rouge and Las Iguanas are the most significant. It also operates some 20 concessions in Heathrow and Center Parcs. In recent months it made its first forays into international markets through franchise partnerships with the openings of Café Rouge in Dubai and Bella Italia in India.
CDG claims to be opening a new restaurant in the UK every seven to 10 days.
