Donald Trump to attend opening of Trump Turnberry
US presidential candidate Donald Trump will fly to the UK attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for super luxury hotel the Trump Turnberry in Ayrshire on 24 June.
The 103-room property, which boasts the famous Ailsa Championship golf course on site, reopened today after extensive renovations. Pitched as one of the most opulent luxury retreats in the world, the hotel and golf course, which has played host to the Open Championship four times, has undergone a £200m, eight-month long refurbishment programme.
Trump said: "Very exciting that one of the great resorts of the world, Turnberry, will be opening today after a massive £200m investment. I own it and I am very proud of it. I look forward to attending the official opening of this great development."
The hotel refurbishment involved the upgrading of 103 guest rooms, including four suites and the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse, which has been restored and converted into a £3,500-per night two bedroom, presidential suite.
In addition, renovations have taken place in the Grand Tea Lounge & Bar and The Duel in the Sun restaurant, while a new Italian cuisine concept, Il Tramonto, has been launched within the hotel's signature 1906 restaurant.
In August the Donald J. Trump Ballroom, a 500-person grand ballroom, which is claimed to be the most luxurious meeting facility anywhere in Europe, will open.
