Canary Riverside Plaza to be independent following departure of Four Seasons

The 142-bedroom hotel previously known as Four Seasons Canary Wharf will operate as an independent property under the name Canary Riverside Plaza.

Property company Yianis Group has decided not to rebrand the hotel after a mutual decision was taken to end the management contract with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts on 30 April 2016. Four Seasons managed the riverfront property since the hotel opened in 1999.

The newly independent property has appointed Ray Goertz, previously hotel manager at M by Montcalm, Shoreditch, as general manager, while Ricardo Garcia Sunet has joined the hotel as head chef from Eelbrook restaurant in Fulham.

Sunet will launch a new menu later this month for the hotel's Quadrato restaurant, which features an outdoor terrace.

Designed by Renton, Howard, Wood and Levin, based on earlier work by Philippe Starck, the Canary Riverside Plaza features a wellness centre with infinity pool and tennis courts.

Yianis Group is owned by John Christodoulou. It owns a portfolio of properties in the hotel, office, residential, leisure and retail sectors, including the Marriot Hotel Canary Wharf and the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
