Room to Reward donates £15,000 worth of hotel stays in first year
Room to Reward, which provides hotel breaks to deserving individuals working with registered charities, has donated more than 100 room nights worth around £15,000, since it launched in July 2015.
With more than 50 hotels and 20 charities now signed up to the scheme, Room to Reward has provided complimentary breaks to more than 35 "hidden heroes".
Hotel industry workers set up the charity urging hotels to donate unoccupied rooms on a bed and breakfast basis.
It was founded by Nicolas Roach, chairman of Nicolas James Group, the owner of the Harbour Hotels Group. Roach appointed Adam Terpening, a former director of Harbour Hotels, as a trustee to set up the charity.
Hotel partners include Elite Hotels, Brook Hotels, New Forest Hotels , Harbour Hotels, Greenclose Hotels, Dalhousie Castle in Scotland, two Indigo Hotels in Paris and Berlin and the St Ermin's Hotel in Westminster. Charity partners include Autism Wessex, Wales Air Ambulance, Home Start, Macmillan, Dingley Family Support and Hampshire Air Ambulance.
Roach said: "This represents a unique opportunity for the hotel industry to reward those who do so much for others. As an owner of hotels, we are all too aware that you can't sell today's empty room tomorrow so why not put that to good use? I hope we can further the incredible success so far across the industry."
Paul Spencer, operations director of Indigo Hotels added: "Room to Reward offers a great way for the hospitality industry to give something back to local communities. The cost to the hotel when giving a short break is small in comparison to the massive impact it has on the hidden hero who feels so valued and appreciated for the wonderful work that they do for their charity."
The charity is continuing to look for more hotels to sign up to the scheme.
