Henrik Muehle, general manager of London boutique hotel Flemings Mayfair, has been appointed to the newly formed executive board of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH).

Muehle joins the executive board with SLH chairman Filip Boyen; Shaun Leleu from SLH; owner of Les Sources de Caudalie Jérôme Tourbier and Wentworth Mansion proprietor Richard Widman.

With over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, beginning his career in his native Germany and in France, Muehle was originally introduced to SLH in his position at Tylney Hall in Hampshire. In 2002 he took his first general manager role at the Capital hotel in London, introducing the property to SLH while the Capital restaurant with head chef Éric Chavot earned two Michelin stars. In 2009, he moved to St. James’s Hotel and Club as managing director, once again signing with SLH and opening a new restaurant, Seven Park Place that earned a Michelin star within a year of opening under chef William Drabble.

After five successful years, Muehle joined Flemings Mayfair as general manager. The hotel is currently undergoing a £14m refurbishment of the 129 guest rooms, suites and apartments as well as the opening of the 110-cover hotel restaurant Ormer Mayfair with Michelin-starred Shaun Rankin as executive chef. Ormer Mayfair and the 40-cover bar Manetta’s are set to open on 20 September 2016.

Muehle has been a member of the SLH board for over three years and was re-appointed to the International Board of Directors for the SLH in 2015 for another three-year term.

Filip Boyen, chairman for SLH said: “Henrik has been an active supporter of Small Luxury Hotels of the World for many years. He is an invaluable addition thanks to his thorough understanding of the SLH brand and continuous cooperation. We are very excited to have him join us on the new executive board as we continue to make great progress with our ambitious five-year plan which has already included the signing of 26 new hotels to the collection this year.”
