BHA welcomes new culture secretary appointment
The British Hospitality Association (BHA) has welcomed the appointment of Karen Bradley MP, the daughter of a pub and hotel owner, as culture secretary.
Bradley, who grew up over the Queen's Head hotel and pub in Buxton, Derbyshire, owned by her parents, replaced John Whittingdale yesterday (14 July) as part of prime minister Theresa May's new Government.
Ufi Ibrahim, chief executive of the British Hospitality Association, said: "The swift transition to a new administration under prime minister Theresa May is to be welcomed. We believe that in times like this, it's vital for business to have political certainty and we welcome the appointment of Karen Bradley MP.
"Hospitality and tourism, like other industries, face an important future and we look forward to working with her on our current questions around the free movement of visitors and workers, better regulation and the promotion of the United Kingdom. She's already shown a keen interest in what we do, attending important industry events, such as the BHA's first Hospitality and Tourism Lobby Day last year, so we are optimistic."
