D&D London launches Japanese menu with All Nippon Airways

Grand Café and Threadneedle Bar, two outlets operated by D&D London at the Royal Exchange, have launched a Japanese pop-up menu in collaboration with the Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA).

The menu has been launched in celebration of a recent trip to Japan during ANA's Seven Samurai Chefs Challenge undertaken by Piero Leone, head chef of Sauterelle, a Mediterranean restaurant also operated by D&D London at the Royal Exchange.

Available until September 2016, the menu will feature dishes such as spicy crab salad with ponzu, sriracha, ginger and mango; smoked salmon and seaweed tartare oshi-sushi with pickled gari, soya foam and black carasau; and tuna tataki lollypop with sesame and ginger dressing. Drinks on offer include Japanese whiskies and beers, cocktails and sake from Shirakabe-Gura.

Customers will be able to enjoy the menu at the Grand Café and Threadneedle Bar from 4pm Monday to Friday.

Leone was named winner of ANA's Seven Samurai Chefs Challenge earlier this month, after beating six rival UK chefs. The chefs were challenged with creating traditional donburi after travelling across Japan, learning from restaurants and markets while trying to master the Japanese style of cooking.

A variation of Leone's winning dish, Donburi N7, which features squid, scallops and prawns, seared with a touch of sesame oil and ponzu sauce, will also be available until September at Sauterelle.

As part of the collaboration, ANA is giving diners the chance to win a trip to Tokyo for two. Enter here: www.danddlondon.com/hot-town-summer-in-the-city/

The Royal Exchange was transformed into a dining and shopping destination in 2001, having been founded in the 16th century as London's first purpose built centre for trading stock.
