Joery Castel to close the Boat House, Bangor

Three-AA-rosette restaurant the Boat House in Bangor is due to close on 30 October as owner Joery Castel has decided to take time out of the kitchen.

Castel opened the restaurant with his brother, Jasper, in 2008. However, Jasper decided to take a step back from the restaurant when he became a father. Joery has now taken the opportunity of an approaching end to the restaurant's lease to do the same, and he hopes to spend more time with his family.

Over the next couple of months, Joery will be revisiting old favourite Boat House dishes through a series of tasting menus which will change every two weeks until the end of October. The chef is encouraging diners to tell the restaurant their favourite Boat House dish to incorporate them into the menus.

The brothers took to Facebook to break the news to their customers.

The post said: "With heavy hearts we would like to inform you that after eight years in the Boat House we've decided to call it a day.

We would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you for supporting us from the outset, through all our high and low times (though we have had far more highs!) We've loved every minute of our Bangor journey. It's been an absolute pleasure meeting and looking after all who have come through our doors.

We are now looking forward to our next challenge…"
