Starboard Hotels takes over operation of Best Western Plus Epping Forest
Starboard Hotels has taken over the management of the three-AA-star, 99 bedroom, Best Western Plus Epping Forest, after Openview Properties acquired the hotel off a guide price of £8m.
The Woodford Green-based hotel in Essex was purchased after the previous owner, Merrigold, went into administration in June.
It is the first hotel to be purely managed by Starboard, which owns and operates the other 10 properties, comprising 950 bedrooms, within its portfolio. The Best Western Plus brand is described as the "upper midscale" sector of the primarily mid-market brand.
Paul Callingham, managing director of Starboard Hotels said: "We are delighted that this popular local hotel has joined the Starboard group and we hope to invest in the hotel further making it a successful business for the future."
General manager of the hotel is Chris Dobson.
Starboard operates hotels under franchise agreements with a number of brands including Holiday Inn Express from InterContinental Hotels Group, Days Inn (Wyndham) and Ibis (AccorHotels), as well as Best Western.
