Neil Rankin to fire up new Soho site on Bonfire Night

Neil Rankin is to open a meat-focused site in London's Soho in November, specialising in rare breeds.

Temper on Broadwick Street will open on Bonfire Night (5 November), a fitting date for a restaurant with a fire pit as its centrepiece.

Specialist breeds such as beer-fed Dexter beef and Berkshire pork will be on offer in a choice of 100g cuts designed to be combined with a range of seasonal vegetable dishes including heritage tomatoes, peach and mint; grilled leeks, provolone, pickled herb stalks, hot honey; and aubergine with oregano, preserved lemon and tahini.

Rankin has partnered with managing director Sam Lee on the project, which will include 42 covers around a 4.5m fire pit in the basement dining room on which the chefs will prepare the meat. On street level chefs will make tacos next to a small bar.
