Admiral Taverns invests £750k in Yorkshire pubs

Pub group Admiral Taverns has invested £750,000 in a series of community pubs in Yorkshire.

Over the past 10 months it has invested in the Black Lion in Bramley, the Villager in Wilsden and the Albert in Hebden Bridge (pictured), which is due to reopen this August.

The Black Lion was taken over by licensee Mark Stanford last year and was refurbished inside and outside.

The Villager, run by licensee Andy Longley, went though an extensive renovation and has reopened with a new kitchen.

The Albert underwent a £250,000 transformation project after it was damaged by flooding on Boxing Day. Licensee Victoria Percival, who took over the pub last year, worked with Admiral Taverns to place flood defences, install a new bar and a kitchen, which will enable the pub to serve food for the first time.

Andy Hodgson, operations director at Admiral Taverns said: "The last 10 months alone have seen us make a series of significant investments in 11 of our Yorkshire pubs totalling £750,000 with more projects in the pipeline. Whilst each investment has addressed a different need, be it flood defences post the extreme flooding at Christmas, newly refurbished interiors, brand new kitchens or welcoming exterior renovations, they crucially allow these pubs to develop their offer to the local community, potentially creating more job opportunities and positioning each pub business for future growth."

Admiral Taverns said more projects were in the pipeline across some of its 864 nationwide pubs.
