Blaze at east London hotel

A fire broke out at an east London hotel over the weekend (20 August).

Fire crews were called to the Park hotel in Cranbrook Road in Ilford at around 5.45pm after the blaze, which saw flames rising from the hotel's roof, prompted more than a dozen calls to 999.

A total of 20 firefighters from crews from Ilford, East Ham, Leytonstone, Hainault and Woodford fire stations were sent to the scene.

The hotel was evacuated and there were no reports of any injuries.

The fire was brought under control by 7.40pm that evening, although the entire roof of the family-run hotel was destroyed.

London Fire Brigade said that the cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.
