Bacchus Restaurant appoints Mike Jennings as head chef

Mike Jennings has been appointed head chef at Bacchus Restaurant in Prestbury, Cheshire.

He joins from the two-AA-rosette restaurant Grenache in Walkden, Manchester, which he was forced to close earlier this year as the 11-table site was too small for expansion.

Jennings will bring his modern take on British and European classics at this 60-cover restaurant with his "no gadgets & gimmicks" style, keeping the menu seasonal.

Jon Rebecchi, the owner of the Bacchus Restaurant said: "It's a great appointment for Bacchus and Mike. Bacchus has been a very busy local restaurant and with Mike joining the team we can really push the restaurant to the next level."

Jennings added: "I am full of excitement and aim to bring some accolades to the already popular venue."

The menu will include Jenning's signature dish grilled mackerel with pickled beetroot, goat's cheese, orange and watercress salad as well as rump of Cheshire lamb with samphire and tomato with crushed peas and a gingerbread tiramisu.

Jennings began his career working with some of the most prolific chefs in the country including Shaun Rankin, Nigel Haworth and Gary Rhodes.

He opened Grenache in 2014 with partner Karen Devaney and said he was "heartbroken" when it closed.
