Fundraising page set up in memory of Gleneagles' executive chef Alan Gibb
A fundraising page has been set up in memory of Alan Gibb, the executive chef at Gleneagles, who died on 21 June, after suffering a stroke, aged 48.
Money raised will support health charity Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, with more than £1,200 having already been donated.
A heartfelt message from his family, on the fundraising page, reads: "In loving memory of Gibby, beloved and much missed husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and friend to many.
"We created this page in loving memory of Alan (Gibby) who passed away suddenly at such a young age following a stroke. If the funds donated can help raise awareness and fund research, which may help prevent this devastating event in even one other, it will be so worthwhile.
"Our family thank all who give with love in Gibby's name."
Tributes were paid on social media and at hotels across Scotland with flags flying at half-mast following the news of Gibb's sudden death.
He worked at the five-AA-red-star Gleneagles hotel since 2006 and led a team of 70 chefs across four restaurants at the resort.
Gibb previously worked at Balbirnie House hotel in Markinch, where he ran the kitchen from November 1998 until May 2003.
He also worked as head chef at the City Inn, Glasgow for just over a year before joining Gleneagles.
Prior to that he owned the Restaurant at Cluny Bank in Forres. He began his career in 1984 having worked in Scotland, London and France before landing the head chef role at the luxury Balbirnie hotel in Fife.
Gibb was survived by his wife Karen and son Leon.
