Ikea launches Shoreditch pop-up restaurant
Ikea has announced the opening of a DIY restaurant in Shoreditch, London, where diners can host their own dinner for up to 20 guests.
Ingredients on offer include raw foods, seafood, venison, wild mushrooms, fresh fish, and fruit and vegetable produce from local farms. Diners will be able to improve their cooking skills by learning techniques such as curing, pickling, smoking, and poaching.
The food will be served to guests by a waiter service and the cleaning up taken care of.
Alongside a kitchen area, the pop up will feature a 'Food for Thought' workshop area where masterclasses will be held by guests including: Instagram star Pixie Turner and Great British Bake Off winner Edd Kimber. The masterclasses will cover topics such as 'One Ingredient, Four Ways', Swedish Baking, Fermentation, Clean Eating, The Future of Food, Sustainable Eating, and Food Styling Tips.
Also, an Ikea shop will be offering homewares, and a showroom will give people inspiration of various styles and products. Visitors can buy Ikeas staple food products, such as Swedish meatballs, in a café at the front of the restaurant.
Ellie Pniok, commercial manager for Ikea food, said: "There's nothing better than cooking and eating together with friends and loved ones where you can laugh, make mess and share in a little gossip. At Ikea we believe that the joy of cooking together is more than just creating food - it's about building lasting memories, connecting and sharing.
We bond and connect over the everyday process of cooking meals together so to celebrate this firmly held belief, we are opening The Dining Club to bring people together to enjoy a meal from beginning to end. This will take place in an environment that reflects a homely kitchen, so you can host a dinner party for all of your friends."
The event open daily from 10am - 10pm and is free of charge. More information can be found at www.IKEAthediningclub.com.
