Children's Food Trust reveals new board members

Meg Longworth and Lisa Gagliani have joined the board of the Children's Food Trust, the national charity which works to get every child eating better.

Longworth leads the health and wellbeing strategy for Chartwells, the education division of Compass Group UK and Ireland. She is also part of an education working group, co-ordinated by Food Service Europe, which is looking to develop an EU school food standard.

Gagliani, who is chair of the Childhood Trust, has helped to alleviate the impact of child poverty for around 60,000 young people in London, including funding breakfast clubs and holiday feeding schemes.

Longworth said: "Spending time in primary and secondary school dining rooms and classrooms over the past four years has given me a real insight into some of the successes and challenges associated with healthy eating in schools and at home.

"The impact a healthy and balanced diet can have on the health and wellbeing of young people in today's society is often underestimated. I'm really excited to be working with the trust to support their existing and future initiatives which aim to bring families, schools and children together to learn all about food, cooking and nutrition through various channels."

Linda Cregan, CEO of Children's Food Trust, added: "We're thrilled to be welcoming Meg and Lisa to help us continue on our mission to get every child eating well.

"Their diverse experience and skills will be invaluable as we continue our focus on the most important issues for children's nutrition: improving access to good food for children, wherever they're eating; giving children and families the skills and knowledge to eat better; and getting greater commitment from industry to help change how children eat."
