Nominations invited for Hotel Cateys Outstanding Contribution and Extra Mile awards

The Outstanding Contribution award will be presented to someone who is likely to have enjoyed success over a prolonged period in the industry and could hail from any part of the hotel business. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Philip Newman-Hall (pictured), Robin Hutson, Patrick Dempsey and Gordon Campbell-Gray, he or she will have made a significant contribution to the industry and will command respect from their peers and colleagues alike.

Meanwhile, the Extra Mile award is open to a person or a team, working in at any level of the hotel industry. All previous winners, such as Chris Penn, Sylla "Amara" Ibrahima, David Mead-Male and Veronica Kingham, have undertaken something extraordinary, whether it is anticipating guest needs, helping colleagues or supporting charities.

The shortlist for 15 of the other 18 categories in this year's Hotel Cateys has just been announcement, with the likes of Gleneagles in Auchterarder, Rockcliffe Hall, Darlington and Luton Hoo hotel among the contenders. There is no shortlist for the Hotelier of the Year award.

The winners will remain a closely guarded secret until they are announced at celebratory dinner on 25 November at London's Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel.
