Richard Corrigan to open Dickie's bar
Richard Corrigan is to open a new bar at his Mayfair restaurant Corrigan's.
The venture, which will be called Dickie's Bar, is scheduled to open in October. It will feature cocktails created by star mixologist Gregory J Buda, from the award-winning bar The Dead Rabbit in New York, showcasing a supply of produce coming from the organic farms and gardens Virgina Park Lodge in Ireland.
Corrigan told The Caterer that the bar was the result of long-standing attempts to relocate the entrance to Corrigan's.
"Eight years of constant pushing and pushing - I always wanted my entrance, single door in the middle. I never wanted it on the side," he said. "Now it's in the middle my bar will become very individual."
"I'm a guy who likes drinking and a good party," he said. "I understand what makes a good bar. The best bar in the world is of course the Dead Rabbit in New York. The chef can't be the barman as well, so we're getting together to launch Dickie's."
The bar will have its own identity separate from the 100-cover Corrigan's and feature additional covers to the restaurant's present bar.
Corrigan added: "Richard Corrigan without a bar - I might as well have one leg. I am a bar and everything personified with enjoying yourself. So Dickie's will be great. And we have the best people in the world to make it happen."
