Former Giggling Squid marketing manager launches Thai takeaway business
Adam Webb, the former marketing manager of Giggling Squid, has launched ThaiWorks takeaway restaurant in Bournemouth.
The new venue, which is on Seamoor Road in the former Tasty Moment Chinese takeaway in the Westbourne area of the town, will open on 23 September and operate seven days a week.
It will deliver to homes in a four-mile radius and is the first of what Webb hopes will be a nationwide Thai takeaway chain.
Webb has invested £100,000 in refurbishing the premises and the new kitchen has been designed by a team of chefs who previously worked at Chaophraya, Busaba and Koh Thai restaurants.
A second opening is planned within the year, with a further two acquisitions in the following 12 months.
Webb left Giggling Squid earlier this year, shortly after the appointment of Camilla Katté as the company's marketing director, following the sale ofa minority stake to Business Growth Fund for £6.4m.
While at Giggling Squid, he helped launch sites in Salisbury, Clifton, Guildford, Billericay and Esher, as the estate grew to 15 properties. He also helped pioneer Giggling Squid's first home delivery operation in Horsham.
Webb said: "There's a strong demand for quality Thai takeaway food, which peaks at the end of the working day and for party celebrations at weekends. The plan is to bring true quality food and service into the home delivery marketplace."
The menu features classic Thai dishes of red, green and Massaman curries, plus innovative modern items such as cheeseburger spring rolls.
