Glasgow Airport hotel to rebrand as Courtyard by Marriott

The Ramada Glasgow Airport hotel is set to be rebranded as a Courtyard by Marriott following the multi-million pound refurbishment of all its 114 bedrooms, reception space and conferencing, hospitality and leisure facilities.

The hotel, on the doorstep of the airport and 15 minutes’ drive from Glasgow city centre, is undergoing the transformation after owner and operator Cairn Group dedicated a significant investment towards the refurbishment and rebranding. The Newcastle-based group acquired the hotel off a guide price of £5.5m in September 2015.

On completion it will be one of only two Courtyard by Marriott hotels in Scotland, alongside Aberdeen, and the first in the UK – and second in Europe – to complete the latest 2.1 Courtyard design.

The Cairn Group owns and operates 24 hotels in the UK, including five other properties in Scotland. In addition to a collection of independent hotels, it operates hotels under brands such as DoubleTree by Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Best Western and Holiday Inn.

Future plans include the addition of 56 bedrooms to bring the total number to 170 by mid-2017. A new fitness centre and business centre will also be included in the rebranding.

Courtyard by Marriott’s The Market concept will be introduced, providing confectionery, refrigerated convenience products and travel accessories, alongside the installation of reception pedestals and touchscreen technology enabling visitors to view the latest travel and other information.

General manager Matthew Hole, who joined the Cairn Group from Marriott in April 2016 to lead the hotel’s refurbishment, is leading the rebranding. He has previously worked at Marriott hotels in London Heathrow/Windsor, Cardiff and most recently at Hollins Hall hotel & country club in Bradford.

Hole said: “The changes range from new stylish uniforms for our staff to the transformation of our bedrooms and public spaces. We can’t wait to greet our guests and introduce them to Courtyard by Marriott.”
