Doubletree by Hilton Glasgow Central launches after £11m investment
The former 300-bedroom Glasgow Central hotel has reopened as the Doubletree by Hilton Glasgow Central, following a £11m refurbishment.
Owned and managed by Amaris Hospitality, the hotel marks the first Doubletree by Hilton for Glasgow, the contemporary upscale hotel from Hilton Worldwide. It is the 16th hotel in Scotland to operate under one of Hilton Worldwide's 13 brands.
Located on Cambridge Street close to the SSE Hydro arena, the hotel offers the Brisket restaurant, Cask bar, Grand Ballroom for up to 1,500 delegates, 12 meeting rooms and a swimming pool.
John Brennan, chief executive of Amaris Hospitality, said, "This wonderful, city-centre hotel is Amaris Hospitality's second Hilton brand hotel in Scotland.
"We look for great hotels in world class locations and the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central Hotel is the perfect addition to the Amaris portfolio."
Amaris Hospitality is one of the largest hotel owners and managers in the UK after being established by American private equity company Lone Star in July 2015 from four separate portfolios of properties (including Jurys Inn and Hotel Collection) acquired by the company since 2012. Last year, Amaris announced plans to rebrand 23 hotels from the combined portfolio as part of a £100m investment programme.
Today Amaris has more than 70 hotels, operating under eight international brands including Jurys Inn; AccorHotels' Mercure and MGallery brands; and Hilton Worldwide's DoubleTree and Hilton Garden Inn brands.
There are currently 465 Doubletree by Hilton hotels with more than 112,000 rooms worldwide.
