Coaching Inns Group acquires Hungerford hotel

Independent coaching inns operator the Coaching Inn Group has acquired the Three Swans in Hungerford, taking its portfolio to 12 properties.

It's third acquisition of the year is part of a £20m expansion plan for the group, formerly known as Bulldog Hotel Group. It is targeting a total of 15 sites before the end of its financial year.

Situated on Hungerford High Street, the 26-bedroom Three Swans will undergo a refurbishment of accommodation areas and development of its food and beverage offer with the introduction of the group's Eatery and Coffee House brands.

The Coaching Inn Group founder and chief executive, Kevin Charity, said: "Since announcing our acquisition plan, we've purchased six properties across the UK and we aim to acquire another three by the end of our financial year. The Three Swans encompasses all the attributes we are looking for in future properties; busy market town locations and businesses that will draw in locals and visitors from further afield alike."

In its last published accounts, for the year to March 2016, the Coaching Inn Group achieved a 60% rise in profits to £1.3m and 29% increase in sales to £13m.
