Gravetye Manor and Brocco on the Park win top awards in Good Hotel Guide 2017
One of the UK's longest established hotels Gravetye Manor has been named Country House Hotel of the Year in The Good Hotel Guide 2017:Great Britain and Ireland, published today, while newcomer Brocco on the Park has taken the title of City Hotel of the Year.
The two hotels are among 10 properties to win a César award, presented by the guide to represent the highest standards of hotel keeping in the country.
Gravetye Manor, near East Grinsteat, West Sussex, has been a stalwart on the country house hotel scene since 1958 since been opened by legendary hotelier Peter Herbert.
Opened in 2014, Brocco on the Park has swiftly created a name for itself in offering a Scandi-chic interior and buzzy neighbourhood restaurant in the centre of Sheffield. Owner Tiina Carr, a former marketing and design consultant, has used her talents in turning a former rundown hostel within an Edwardian villa into an eight bedroom hotel, which is regarded as one of the hippest in the city.
Adam Raphael and M. Astella Saw, the guide's co-editors, said: "All 10 properties have been chosen for their immaculate service, warm welcome, fine hospitality and memorable individuality."
Featuring a total of 414 independent hotels in the main entry, the guide also highlights 10 hotels in 16 editor's choice categories covering discoveries, value, family-friendly, seaside, country House, boutique, gourmet, gastropubs, dog-friendly, walking, weddings, gardens, spas, romantic, bed & breakfast and rooms with a view. There are also 411 hotels in the shortlist section.
