Leonardo Hotels acquires Premier Inn property in Edinburgh
The 282-bedroom Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre (Haymarket) has been acquired from Whitbread by Leonardo Hotel for an undisclosed sum.
Located on Morrison Street, the property was designed by the late architect Andrew Doolan, who was a shareholder in the building, along with Sandy Orr and Donald MacDonald.
Whitbread sold the hotel to concentrate on developing and opening new sites across Edinburgh, including the Hub by Premier Inn concept.
The newly named Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh City Centre (Haymarket) is the second property to be launched in the UK by mid-market group Leonardo Hotels, which is the European arm of Israeli company Fattal Hotels, following the opening last year of a 230-bedroom hotel near Heathrow Airport.
Orr said: "Expertly operated by Whitbread for over 20 years, we look forward to seeing the hotel continue its significant contribution to Edinburgh's hospitality sector."
