Time Out to create food market concept in London
Media business Time Out has reached an agreement to create a Time Out Market in Shoreditch, east London, which will feature 17 restaurants.
It has operated a similar market in Lisbon, Portugal, since May 2014 and it is expected that the new food and cultural market will be run along the same lines with a mix of restaurants, bars, shops and cultural experiences.
Restaurant operators will be provided with facilities, equipment and support services in return for a share of revenues. The bars will be operated directly by Time Out Group.
Time Out Market chief executive Didier Souillat said: "We will bring together under one roof London's finest cuisine, best cocktails and cultural experiences, based on the editorial curation we've always been known for.
"Our focus is to work with London restaurateurs, mixologists and artists, and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their talent in a different, hot and eclectic part of town, Shoreditch, in a space full of character, at the heart of the local community."
Time Out Group has plans for further markets in New York and Miami.
