Sodexo acquires procurement firm PSL
Contract catering giant Sodexo has acquired fresh food procurement firm PSL.
Sodexo said that the acquisition would enhance its food cost management potential through real-time e-platforms that will maximise food savings through measures including menu engineering and waste management.
PSL currently works with a number of hotel and restaurant groups including the Dorchester, Marriott and Busaba Eathai, and will now have the opportunity to expand further into the catering market.
The caterer expects that PSL will have the opportunity to grow throughout Europe through its client base. Sodexo also plans to expanding PSL's client base beyond hospitality.
The move mirrors Sodexo's US-base acquisition of purchasing group Entegra, and is part of a wider strategy to identify data led businesses that can add value to clients.
Sodexo UK & Ireland regional chairman Sean Haley said: "The acquisition of PSL will improve the efficiency of our own processes and help us drive increased value for our clients through market-leading food cost management solutions. We are looking forward to working with the team at PSL and are pleased that this move will enable them to extend their business into new geographies and new sectors."
PSL managing director Daniel Wilson added: "I and the management team of PSL are delighted to be joining Sodexo, a global leader in the services industry, which will bring fantastic opportunities not only for both businesses but also for our employees, clients and suppliers."
