Elior buys stake in online catering booking service
Foodservice firm Elior Group has acquired a minority stake in catering start-up La Belle Assiette, which offers online booking of independent caterers for individuals holding events in their home.
Elior is divulging neither the size of the stake it holds nor what it paid for it, however La Belle Assiette said that the deal would accelerate its entry into corporate catering though its La Belle Assiette for Business product.
Claiming to be Europe's largest online marketplace for catering services, La Belle Assiette offers a network of more than 700 independent caterers, with prices for personalised meals starting from £39 per person. MasterChef: the Professionals 2013 winner Steven Edwards has worked with the service, as well as Alec Maxfield, a finalist in MasterChef: The Professionals in 2012.
Stephen Leguillon, CEO of La Belle Assiette said: "The relationships between startups and large corporations are now essential to the vitality of tech ecosystems. The agreement that we have announced today with Elior is great news for the future growth of La Belle Assiette, especially thanks to their incredible expertise in B2B catering services which we will tap into. It will provide a strong acceleration of our corporate activities and our La Belle Assiette for Business tool."
