Tender opportunity: Contract Catering Concession, Highcliffe Castle Tea Rooms
Highcliffe Castle and the Tea Rooms are a superb location from which to operate a high quality catering business. Having been operational for more than 30 years, the business is extremely well established with a loyal local clientele as well as visitors to the beach and Castle itself. As the existing lease comes to an end on the 31st March 2017, there is now an exciting opportunity to develop the business further.
A £3.7million restoration project to the east wing of the Castle and to the grounds will commence again during 2017, following grant support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is anticipated that there will be a significant increase in footfall to the castle grounds following the project completion in 2018.
Christchurch Borough Council is therefore looking for an experienced and innovative contract caterer to build on the current offer of a daily catering service to visitors of the Tea Rooms, Highcliffe Castle, the grounds and adjacent beach in a manner which matches the high quality environment in which it is located.
The operator will provide exclusive on-site catering of the Tea Rooms and a mobile kiosk located within the grounds, as well as the non-exclusive rights to the beach area at Highcliffe.
It is envisaged that the operator of the Tea Rooms would also be included as a Castle nominated caterer for weddings, functions and other events for the duration of the contract.
This would be a great opportunity for any contract caterer to work at a prestigious site. All applicants should have a proven track record in providing services at similar size operations, they must have strong financial stability and be able to demonstrate technical competency in the catering field.
