Compass wins gold Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice
Compass Group UK & Ireland has won a gold award at the international Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice 2016 from the Green Organisation.
The annual campaign rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world. Compass Group has been rewarded gold in the Food and Drink category for its revamped approach to ensuring compliance with its certified ISO14001 Environmental Management System and promoting best practice at site level.
Compass has engaged with staff and supported client priorities by creating a new ‘Environment Toolkit', which it describes as a "visually appealing activity pack" to improve understanding and raise awareness.
Since launching the Toolkit in January 2015, Compass has enrolled the activity pack at nearly 9,000 sites with 82% responding positively to a satisfactory survey.
Celena Fernandez (pictured), environment manager for Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: "Being rewarded a gold award by such a prestigious organisation is a huge honour.
"We worked extremely hard to create the Environment Toolkit so for it to be recognised in such a way is fantastic. We will continue to improve the Toolkit every year to keep our sites up to date with the latest information as we seek to deliver best practice across the business."
Compass was presented with the award at the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Palace, London, on 11 November.
