Nomura pubs sell for £2b

Newco, the new company set up by Enterprise Inns and a consortium of private equity investors, has bought the Unique Pub Company and the Voyager Pub Group from Nomura for just over £2b.

The deal includes 3,219 tenanted pubs from the Unique estate and 940 leased and managed pubs from the Voyager group. The pubs are expected to generate full-year earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in excess of £220m.

Enterprise has a £75m (16.8%) stake in the new company, and will be able to buy the remaining equity, which it values at£2.2b, from the consortium in two years time.

The pubs will continue to be managed by the existing senior management team of Unique and Voyager.

Enterprise became the sole bidder after the Punch Pub Company pulled out of the sale earlier this week.
