Marston graduates to Cambridge

Kent-based Marston Hotels has signed an agreement to lease a new four-star hotel to be built in the new settlement of Cambourne, near Cambridge.

The Cambridge Belfry will be developed by Status Property Group. A full planning application has been submitted and, if successful, Marston expects construction to begin this August. It hopes to be open for business in October 2003.

The 120 bedrooms will include 10 suites and 18 executive rooms. Facilities will include a restaurant and brasserie, and a leisure complex including pool, gym, beauty treatment room, spa, sauna, relaxation area, and outdoor tennis court.

The hotel will be designed in the style of a country-house hotel and will place bedrooms in a three-storey block, and other amenities in a single storey around a landscaped central courtyard.

Marston Hotels, which recently won a contract to manage the four-star, 62-bedroom Eastwell Manor hotel near Ashford, Kent, currently operates 15 hotels.
