Ruth Hansom wins bronze at EuroSkills 2016

Ruth Hansom of the Ritz hotel, London, has been awarded a bronze medal for cooking at EuroSkills 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Almost 500 contestants took part in this year's competition, across 44 disciplines.

Other winners included: landscape gardeners Will Burberry, Gardenscapes and Adam Ferguson, Historic Royal Palaces; 3D game designer Daniel McCabe, West Cheshire College; and welder Josh Peek, L&G Skilled Engineering, all won gold. Danielle Scandone, Moonflower, was awarded a silver medal for floristry.

Hansom, the Young National Chef of the Year 2016, won bronze for cooking alongside Sam Hillier and Thomas Revell of Toyota Manufacturing UK who scooped bronze for Mechatronics.

A total of eight medallions for excellence have been awarded to UK competitors, however the list is yet to be revealed.

EuroSkills 2016 is part of WorldSkills Europe, organised by WorldSkills Sweden (WSS), GÁ¶teborg & Co and the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre.
